Hoping for a green thumb...

Growing up, I wasn't exposed to much gardening- floral nor vegetable. The only thing I remember was mowing the lawn and pulling weeds, which I absolutely hated. So, when the time came to work in my yard, I was - and still partially am- clueless. I only knew that I didn't want to spend all my time pulling weeds. So I opted for a low-maintenance yard. After reading my friends blogs I knew that I wanted to do a bit more - remember though, I'm still clueless! So we put in some containers and added flowers. I think they turned out quite lovely, hopefully they will continue to stay that way...

Here's our first ever vegetable garden! I planted some tomatoes, red peppers and my favorite herbs. Not a huge garden, but a good enough for a beginner. I can't wait to eat my tomatoes!

So for all my expert gardening friends, thank you for your inspiration!

I love it! I have a (what's the opposite of green? -Black? ok that is what I will call it) black thumb! I love your little garden box too. Jed and I were going to do that this year...uhm but I never got around to it. You are my inspiration!

Way to go Heidi! I never had a green thumb until we put in our yard. I was seriously nervous, but I just jumped right in and now I LOVE IT! Nothing in my house survives longer than 2 weeks but the outside is in Mother Nature's hands for the most part! It was my therapy during Nate's cancer treatment, we were just starting to landscape the beds when that all hit. While he was inside resting I was outside planting ALL DAY LONG from June to September. It was a better alternative to think about than the what ifs. Now it is in my blood. Hope you get as much enjoyment out of it as I do. Keep it up! Would love to see how they are all doing down the road. Keep us posted. :)
